My 15-Year Experience in Teaching Levantine Arabic language

I have been teaching the Arabic language to non-native Arabic speakers since 2008. My first teaching experience was in the old city of Damascus. Most of the students I taught were facing a common problem which was their lack of confidence to speak Arabic even though they were studying the Arabic language for 2-3 years at least in their UK or US universes. And maybe you might had this experience or you know what I’m talking about.

As someone who loves to invent and challenge orthodox teaching methods, I decided to try all the techniques; I found through my research, that could help my students overcome their fear of speaking Arabic without thinking too much about grammar.

Through my experience teaching Arabic in the first 2 years, I published my first book on learning Levantine Arabic called Teach Yourself Spoken Arabic. Then a few years later, when I gained more experience and discovered different teaching methods, I published my second book, which is called Colloquial Levantine Arabic, which contains my updated step-by-step formula for mastering Levantine Arabic for complete beginners. I designed this book to take you from an absolute beginner to an upper intermediate level.

Two Challenges I couldn’t Solve Yet

Most of the students I taught were able to speak Arabic confidently and express their thoughts, feelings, and opinions. They had no problem communicating with native Arabic speakers. But two challenges they couldn’t achieve, first their ability to understand Arabs when they speak Arabic to each other, and second, they don’t sound natural when speaking Arabic.

I also like learning languages, and I was fascinated by the Russian language. And just like you, I was looking for the best tips and techniques to master the Russian language.
One day, I was in a bookstore in London and I found a children’s storybook in the Russian language, bought it and started reading it. After a few days, I was very engaged in the story and could remember the meaning of the new words without memorizing them. While reading the book, I noticed tremendous improvements & progress.

Based on my experience in learning the Russian language, I realized I must use this narrative in my Arabic teaching method.

Learn Levantine Arabic Through the Power Of Story

I introduced the storytelling method to my students, and they immediately experience the effect I had when learning the Russian Language. So, I created a series of engaging & fun Arabic stories that comes with an Audio recording.

The Arabic Storytelling Method will allow you to:

  1. fully understand Arabic native speakers when communicating with each other.
  2. enjoy and understand Tv Arabic shows
  3. speak Arabic like Locals
  4. be fluent in Arabic of course

Why Learning Arabic Through Story Is The Best Way To Master The Arabic Language

  • Learn words within the context – Your brain remembers more vocabulary of a story than individual words
  • Learn Grammar naturally and effortlessly – As you read the story, you will see the grammar being used repeatedly, and your brain will create patterns that become familiar to you over time
  • Improve your listening skills and reading comprehension – The Arabic storytelling method is based on listening and reading. You’ll hear what you’re reading and read what you’re listening to, taking your listening skills to the next level
  • Learn the other 40% of the Arabic language that most Arabic learners miss out on. Through the stories, you will learn Arabic phrases, expressions, proverbs, and idioms that most students do not pay attention to when studying Arabic, resulting in not understanding when Arabs speak to each other
  • You will remain motivated and engaged: When you learn Arabic through the Storytelling method, you will always be involved in the language, as the plot of the story will keep you wanting to know what will happen next, on top of that, your focus will shift from grammar structures to the meaning of the story, helping you to communicate in the language from the beginning
  • Learn the Arabic Cultural Nuance Naturally – Stories are at the core of our daily communication, especially in the Middle East, where stories play a huge role in passing on tradition and moral values from one generation to the next. We even have the word (Hakawati) which means Storyteller.

Stories are powerful things they can teach, entertain, stir emotions, evoke memories, and are a great way to master the Arabic language and develop your ability to naturally speak Arabic as the locals do.
